Beethoven Violin Sonata Project

In celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth in 2020, Sean learned and performed all 10 of the Sonatas for Violin and Piano alongside his close friend and colleague Nathaniel Shapiro. These four recitals were part of the Log Church Music Series at Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship in Brown County Indiana. However, the duo performed and/or recorded the sonatas at a number of venues across Indiana.

Recital No. 1

Violin Sonata No. 1 in D Major, Op. 12 No. 1
Violin Sonata No. 2 in A Major, Op. 12 No. 2
Violin Sonata No. 3 in E-flat Major, Op. 12 No. 3

The duo was able to perform the first three of the Sonatas, Op. 12, in late January to a receptive audience.

Recital No. 2

Violin Sonata No. 4 in A Minor, Op. 23
Violin Sonata No. 5 in F Major, Op. 24 "Spring Sonata"

Following the rise of COVID-19, the project took a turn. The second concert of the series which was slated for May, was to feature the Fourth and Fifth Violin Sonatas. Unfortunately, it needed to be cancelled and/or rescheduled due to the rise of the coronavirus. With no end of the pandemic in sight, the two decided to record the two sonata in Sean's living room. Their recordings of the two sonatas are available on YouTube here:
