Beethoven 2020 Violin Sonata Project
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, Sean plans to learn and perform all 10 of the Sonatas for Violin and Piano over the course of the 2020 year, alongside his friend and colleague Nathaniel Shapiro. These four recitals are part of the Log Church Music Series at Brown County Presbyterian Fellowship in Brown County Indiana. However, the two plan to perform and/or record the sonatas at other venues as well throughout the 2020 year.
Recital No. 2
Violin Sonata No. 4 in A Minor, Op. 23
Violin Sonata No. 5 in F Major, Op. 24 "Spring Sonata"
Following the rise of COVID-19, the project took a turn. The second concert of the series which was slated for May, was to feature the Fourth and Fifth Violin Sonatas. Unfortunately, it needed to be cancelled and/or rescheduled due to the rise of the coronavirus. With no end of the pandemic in sight, the two decided to record the two sonata in Sean's living room. Despite the restrictions caused by the coronavirus, the duo is committed to continuing the project in any way possible. The final two recitals may be delayed, but the duo plans to eventually perform and/or record the remaining 5 sonatas.
